About The Author♥

Greetings dear friend, whoever you might be, and welcome to my blog♥
As you have probably already guessed by the title of my blog, I am indeed an 'Old Fashioned Girl!'

My name is Gabrielle and I am 14 years old.
I am a Princess of our Heavenly King, and my desire is to be a blessing to Him, my family and all those I meet along the way♥

"I will truly try for the rest of the time, and be as good and grateful as I can; for I want them to like me, though I'm only 'an old ~ fashioned country girl."
Polly Milton, An Old ~ Fashioned Girl

I am very much a girly~girl...I just love pretty things! I also enjoy dressing up - living on a small farm it is difficult to wear pretty clothes, but every opportunity I get to go out, I make the most of!♥

"But, dear me, let us be elegant or die!"
Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

"One can dream so much better in a room where there are pretty things."
Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables

"It is ever so much easier to be good if one's clothes are fashionable!"
Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables

I love children...my heart's desire is to one day marry and have lots of kiddies to love, to nurture, to look after and teach them about the love of Jesus!
My heart just melts when I see the face of a baby or toddler♥
"I must go and see it. I just love babies!"
Anne Blythe, Anne's House of Dreams

"My castle was the most nearly realised of all. I asked for splendid things, to be sure, but in my heart I knew that I should be satisfied if I had a little home, and John, and some dear children like these."

Meg, Little Women

I am passionate about homesteading...my dream is to one day live on a big farm and be completely self~ sufficient.
I am at my happiest when canning and preserving in the kitchen or weeding and planting in the garden.

I love ducks, and hopefully {{if all goes according to plan}} I shall be getting a small flock this Spring! My plan is to make a tiny business out of selling duck eggs and maybe even at some stage, slaughtering the ducks and selling the meat...the possibilities are endless!

..."I am going to to be a farmer's wife, and make butter and cheese, and have ten children, and raise pigs...'
Maud Shaw, An Old Fashioned Girl

"Putting up a school lunch or cooking a good meal for the family may seem very insignificant as compared with giving a lecture or writing a book, but I doubt , if, in the ultimate reckoning, they will count for as much."
Laura Ingalls Wilder

I absolutely love books!
I love the smell of them, the feel of them and how one book can completely transport me into another world.
Roaming second~hand bookstores is one of my favourite things to do...but I usually come out of them bankrupt:-)
My favourite author is Louisa May Alcott, and my favourite book is Little Women.
I own 54 books and am quite proud of my 'library!'
"I thanked him as well as I could, and now talk about my 'my library,' as if I had a hundred books!"
Jo March, Good Wives

"Our library isn't very extensive,'' said Anne, "but each book in it is a friend. We've picked our books up through the years, here and there, never buying one until we had first read it and knew that it belonged to the race of Joseph."

Anne Shirley, Anne's House Of Dreams

I have five sisters and one brother, my eldest sister is married and expecting her first little one!
I love my family, and I love having so many sisters...it's so special to all work together, singing, chatting and laughing.
We are a loyal bunch, and stick together through thick and thin!

"I could never love anyone as I love my sisters!"

Jo March, Little Women

"Families are the most beautiful things in all the world!"

Jo March, Little Women

So, that's me!

I hope you enjoy reading my blog...I enjoy writing it, and I pray that, somehow, my it will be a bright light in a dark world... I hope to share the love of Christ through the words I write♥

Please come again soon, you are very welcome here!

May the Lord Bless you,

~Gabrielle Lisl Gray~
